“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matt. 11:28-30
Even when we feel distant from God because of sin or circumstances, He seeks us out to restore us with His redeeming love and grace. When you feel farthest from God, we believe He is NEVER closer to you than right then. Remember the woman at the well, Jacob, the lost sheep, the prodigal son and many, many more stories Jesus shares with us. God does not sit back and wait for people to come to Him; He actively pursues them. He rejoices when the lost are found. There is celebration in heaven over one sinner who repents (Luke 15:7). Following Jesus is a lifelong journey full of ups and downs. There will be mountaintops of joy, but there will also be valleys of doubt, failure, and pain. Through it all, God promises His grace is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9). Jesus is with us in whatever circumstance we are in, and He wants you to grow closer to him throughout your life. The word REPENT really only means to turn around, or change direction. Jesus seeks us out, but also wants so much more for us than we can even imagine. (Ephesians 3:20) Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.
